Robin Gibb - Mon 08 November

Expect all your favourites and so much more as Robin Gibb announces a Vector Arena date for his hit-laden show…with Special Guests The Pointer Sisters.

His is a voice that set alight a million romances and as many dance floors and now Robin Gibb returns to New Zealand for an unforgettable evening of BEE GEES Greatest Hits (with Special Guests The Pointer Sisters*) at vector Arena.

Robin last performed here in 1999 when the BEE GEES One Night Only show attracted more than 60,000 people – still one of the biggest concert attendances in New Zealand history.

Says Gibb, "It's been a long time, but I'm really, really pleased to be coming back one more time to play for the New Zealand fans".

The BEE GEES’ song catalogue ranks only behind The Beatles’ as the world’s most successful, and now spans more than five decades of chart-topping brilliance. They remain the only group to have recorded number one songs in four different decades and currently more than 6,500 cover versions of their songs are known to exist.

Robin Gibbs’ An Evening of BEE GEES Greatest Hits brings the hit list back to life and there is no need for cover versions here! Fans can expect to hear all the biggest songs - Massachusetts, How Deep is Your Love, Stayin’ Alive, Night Fever, You Win Again, Nights on Broadway, Jive Talking, I Started A Joke, Words, To Love Somebody, New York Mining Disaster and many more!

While Robin’s ethereal voice has lent a trademark sound to many of the BEE GEES biggest songs, his solo offerings have more often than not borrowed from directly from his soul.

From 1969’s Saved by the Bell (his first international hit), to his first million-selling album, How Old Are You?, to 2004’s My Lover’s Prayer (performed with Alistair Griffin) Robin’s is a musical genius more than deserving of it’s heart-melting reputation and hall of fame status. Add to his solo work a career peppered by hits written and produced for other artists (such as Barbra Streisand, Kenny Rogers and Celine Dion) and you begin to understand just how revered and admired Robin Gibb is!

Today Robin continues to work with and mentor young singer-songwriters and is also President of CISAC (The International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers). He is also the championing voice behind the Bomber Command War Memorial Campaign to honour those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the Second World War.

The Pointer Sisters’ career has successes spanning over three decades, the repertoire of these multi Grammy award winning artists has included such diverse genres as pop, disco, jazz, bebop, blues, soul, funk, dance, country and rock. Their debut album produced a massive hit for the funk cover of Yes We Can Can and they scored another home run with their sultry cover of Bruce Springsteen's Fire.

The Pointer Sisters enjoyed a steady succession of vibrant and stirring hits throughout the 80s: He's So Shy, Slow Hand, I'm So Excited, Automatic, Jump (for My Love), Neutron Dance, and Dare Me. In 1985 both Jump (for My Love) and Automatic won Grammies.
